Disability Rights PA Presents: Emergency Preparedness Webinar May 24th 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Disability Rights Pennsylvania (DRP) is proud to announce that we have released a series four (4) new fact sheets about emergency preparedness to educate people with disabilities and their allies about their rights before, during, and after emergency situations.
DRP’s series of fact sheets on the Rights of People with Disabilities in an Emergency include: 1) Evacuation Plan Inclusion and Accessibility; 2) Effective Notification and Communication for People with Disabilities; 3) Access to Shelter and Temporary Housing; and 4) Access to Healthcare, Social Services, and Recovery Services.
You can find these publications on DRP’s website here, under the Resources tab and Emergencies and Disasters topic.
Additionally, DRP is hosting a webinar on May 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon that will cover the legal rights of people with disabilities in emergency situations, including topics addressed in the fact sheets. Participants will also receive practical advice about how they can educate themselves about emergency preparedness plans in their community and advocate to address any shortcomings. Please make sure to register for the webinar. Once registered, the join/call-in information will be sent to the email address you register with.
The webinar will be recorded and posted on DRP’s website for anyone who is interested but unable to attend the live presentation.
We look forward to you joining us and please feel free to share this information with your networks!
This presentation is produced at U.S. taxpayer expense and with funding from the Pennsylvania Disability Advocacy Fund, A fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities.
