Disability Rights Pennsylvania Responds to Dobbs v. Jackson
The recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a precedent that has stood for nearly 50 years, is unconscionable. The disability community has fought hard over the last 50 years to gain access to culturally appropriate health care and bodily autonomy. The Dobbs decisions removes a Constitutional right for all women, including women with disabilities and those of us who live at the intersection of our BIPOC and LGTBTQIA communities.
We are fortunate that Pennsylvania is a state that has laws protecting a women’s right to choose. We stand in solidarity with women who live in states that do not. We are committed to fighting against any effort to weaken full bodily autonomy and privacy.
