Help America Vote Day

Today is Help America Vote Day. Help America Vote Day is a national effort to recruit new poll workers to help America vote. Help America Vote Day was established by the Election Assistance Commission in 2020 as a National Day of Action to help communities across the country recruit poll workers.

There is a critical shortage of poll workers across the country and in Pennsylvania. A poll worker is vital to our democracy. Poll workers are trained to help ensure free and fair elections by staffing polling places on election day. A poll worker sets up the polling place and may even deploy temporary modifications to ensure accessibility. A poll worker can assist people with disabilities to vote privately and independently. A poll worker greets all voters and ensures they are a registered voter in the district. A poll worker creates a positive and smooth voting experience for all voters. Specific duties and compensation can vary county by county.
