It’s Budget Season: Contact Your State Senator and Representative

Friends –

It’s budget season! Click here for our statement on the budget and links to background information.

The Pennsylvania legislature is starting to introduce bills relating to the budget. It is expected that the budget may be completed as early as June 30. Your advocacy is needed prior to June 30.

Now is the time to start contacting your state Senator and Representative about the budget. You can call, email, write a letter, or set a time to meet with him or her in Harrisburg or in his or her district office. Click here to find your legislator and his or her contact information.

Let your state Senator and Representative know about the budget items that are important for you or a family member. Explain how funding has helped you or a family member. Explain how waiting for services or a lack of funding has harmed you or a family member. Share a personal story. Ask your Senator or Representative to contact the Chair of the Senate or House Appropriations Committee about these important budget items. If your Senator or Representative is the Chair, reach out as soon as you can.

Click here for a letter that we recently sent to the legislature about the budget. This letter highlights seven proposed budget items, and there may be other budget items that are important for you. Click here for a complete budget summary by the Policy Information Exchange (PIE).

Thank you for your efforts and advocacy. Please keep in touch and let us know how it goes. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter. We will continue to provide updates and information.
