Friends –
Cassie James Holdsworth, Liberty Resources, Inc.’s Director of National Policy and Advocacy, has asked me to forward this great news!! We have just learned that Governor Gregoire of Washington State has heard and carefully listened to the disabled community and has decided to not file an appeal (cert. review) of the M.R. vs. Dreyfuss, 9th Circuit decision putting at rest (for now) any challenge to the historic Olmstead ADA decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. National ADAPT and all of you and our Consumers who called, wrote, and emailed Governor Gregoire had a huge impact on helping the Governor make the right decision.
Here is ADAPT’s national alert from late last night:
“We are thrilled that Governor Gregoire has decided to do the right thing. It is clear that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) each played a significant role in securing this outcome. Thanks to the Obama Administration for its support of the disability community and the Olmstead decision! Of course this would not have happened without the literally thousands of folks who made our voices heard through calls, emails, tweets and direct action!”
The people… united… will never be defeated!!!
