MA Copays for Children with Disabilities – Rally Alert

DPW has announced its intention to start collecting co-pays on many Medical Assistance services provided to children with disabilities whose family income exceeds 200% of the federal poverty level (about $46,000 per year for a family of 4). The co-pays could be as high as 5% of a family’s gross income. For children currently receiving services through Medical Assistance Fee-for-Service (not through Medicaid HMOs) these co-pays are set to begin on November 1.
DRN has learned that a press conference with Representative Mike Sturla and a rally against the proposal to impose these co-pays will be held in the Rotunda of the State Capitol, Harrisburg, on Tuesday, September 25 at 10:45. If you are concerned about the impact of these co-pays on children with disabilities, especially those from lower and middle income families, we encourage you to participate in the rally on September 25 and to also express your concerns to your state representative and state senator.
