MY MEDICAID MATTERS Rally, October 17, 2012, Capitol Building, Harrisburg, Fountain Entrance, 1pm

Sent by the Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania –

Friends, people with disabilities, and advocates:

It isn’t too late to be listed as a Supporting Organization of the MY MEDICAID MATTERS Rally, scheduled for October 17, 2012 at the Capitol Building, Fountain Entrance, 1:00 pm, rain or shine.  If there is inclement weather, we will meet inside at the Main Rotunda at 1:00 pm.

Why should you come to Harrisburg?

This legislative session may fundamentally change “Medicaid As We Know It” in ways that we won’t like unless we tell them what we want in any reforms they propose.  NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US!

Currently in PA:  We are all beginning to see people returning to institutions.  We continue to watch the dismantling of one of the country’s best attendant care waivers in the country and the destruction of small, effective community providers.   Community Mental Health services are disappearing and the future of these services are in jeopardy, becoming almost non-existent.  People are stuck on waiting lists which mean they will probably lose an opportunity for housing or a job and people with head injuries do not have a waiver anymore that fits their needs and that means a nursing facility for them, if they are able to find one to take them.

This administration does not have a good track record of including the public in their plans or developments.  When Medicaid is reformed, we better be at that table.

If you need more information or would like to be listed as a supporting organization of the Rally or would like to volunteer or assist financially, please contact Cassie James at or Linda Anthony at  A Supporter Organization will be listed as those who agree and promote the message “MY MEDICAID MATTERS” and hopefully will assist their constituents in getting to Harrisburg on October 17, 2012 for a press conference and rally at 1:00 pm.
