Nominations Sought for HHS Advisory Committee on Long COVID

Today is the deadline to submit an application to join the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Long COVID.

Last November, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) put out a public notice on the new Advisory Committee and issued a call for nominations. HHS wants to include individuals outside the government, including those with lived experience with Long COVID and those who care for individuals with Long COVID.

Science has yet to determine why COVID-19 symptoms can last months or years after an infection.  Yet statistics from the Centers for Disease Control have documented 1 in 6 American adults who are impacted from Long COVID.

The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Long COVID will support the HHS Secretary in offering recommendations on Long COVID with a focus on health equity.  The Advisory Committee will include up to 20 members. HHS is seeking representatives from the research community, medical community, disability community, public health groups, and more.
