October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Thank you to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and to the Governor for recently making important declarations regarding employment.
House Resolution 453 was recently adopted by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. This Resolution designates October 2015 as “National Disability Employment Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Click here to read the text of this Resolution. Thank you to lead sponsor Representative Thomas Murt, to all Resolution co-sponsors, and to the entire House of Representatives.
Governor Wolf also recently declared October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. This year’s theme is, “My disability is one part of who I am.” Click here to read the press release and Proclamation. Thank you to Governor Wolf, Human Services Secretary Ted Dallas, and Labor and Industry Secretary Kathy Manderino.
The Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania supports competitive integrated employment opportunities for students and adults with disabilities. We hope for a final state budget that continues the spirit of Disability Employment Awareness Month and fully funds employment-related services for persons with disabilities.
