Transportation Committee to Explore Air Travel for People with Disabilities
On Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 10:00 am, a congressional subcommittee will hold a hearing on accessible air travel.
The Air Carrier Access Act is the federal law that makes it illegal for airlines to discriminate against passengers because of their disability. The U.S. Department of Transportation enforces the Air Carrier Access Act.
The Subcommittee on Aviation in the U.S. House of Representatives Transportation Committee announced the hearing this week.
As of today, the subcommittee has not released a witness list; however, the subcommittee has issued a press release that describes the focus of the hearing. According to the press release, members of the subcommittee will discuss the entire travel experience for passengers with disabilities, including check in, security, flights, and baggage claim.
The hearing will be live streamed.

#AdvocacyMatters. Air travel continues to be a challenge for people with disabilities. We encourage advocates to listen to the hearing and send comments about their air travel experience to their members of the subcommittee.
