U.S. Election Assistance Commission Public Roundtable on Voting Trends and People with Disabilities
Wednesday, July 7, 2021, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission will hold a public roundtable on voter turnout and trends for people with disabilities during the 2020 general election.
The roundtable will be live-streamed and open to the public. The meeting starts at 10:00 am.
According to the public notice, the virtual roundtable will discuss a new report analyzing voter turnout among people with disabilities during the 2020 general election.
The report is a joint project of the EAC and the Program for Disability Research at Rutgers University.
The report will show that voting accessibility improved in 2020 as compared to a similar survey conducted in 2012; however, 1 in 9 people with disabilities still faced barriers to voting.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission was established by the Help America Vote Act of 2002. The EAC is an independent, bipartisan commission that serves as a resource for election officials, develops guidance to meet the requirements of the Help America Vote Act, and certifies voting systems for use by the public during elections.
