Barry Hopkins v. PA Dept of Corrections filed

On August 2, 2023, DRP, through Rhonda Brownstein, Brynne Madway, and Alexandra Hermann, and with co-counsel Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project, filed a lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections on behalf of client Barry Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins suffers from opioid use disorder and is seeking medication-assisted treatment. The lawsuit challenges the Department of Corrections policy and practice of refusing this life-sustaining medical treatment to prisoners based on arbitrary considerations.
