DRP Assists Client in Appeal of Reduction of Disability Services Resulting in Restoration of Services
DRP successfully represented a woman with disabilities that impacted her mobility, ability to perform activities of daily living, and cognitive function, resulting in the need for assistance, cueing and supervision in connection with an appeal of a reduction in personal assistance services. After she had been authorized for 24 hours per day of personal assistance services for 13 years, her managed care organization sought to reduce her authorized hours by two-thirds with little explanation for the service reduction and despite no improvement in her condition. As a result of DRP’s advocacy on her behalf, her managed care organization withdrew its previous denial decision and agreed to authorize 24 hours per day of personal assistance services until her next regularly scheduled assessment or until an intervening change in her condition.
