DRP Assists Student in Receiving Inclusive Educational Services

In 2023, Morris Scott and DRP filed a due process complaint on behalf a minor child with Autism and against the child’s school district for the school district’s practice of educating the child only in a segregated classroom. After a hearing and decision, it was determined that the school district violated the least restrictive environment mandate of the IDEA by educating the child exclusively in an autism-supports classroom and that the child must be educated with her non-disabled peers in her neighborhood school. In addition, the school district was responsible to pay attorney’s fees.
