DRP Assists Student with Disabilities in Eliminating Discriminatory Policy at Community Arts Program

The parents of a 5-year-old girl with disabilities contacted DRP after they were told by a community after-school arts program that the girl could only attend the program with an aide because she had an aide in school.  DRP contacted the arts center and explained that a policy that requires all children with disabilities to attend the program with an aide if they have an aide in school is discriminatory.  As a result of DRP’s advocacy, the arts center eliminated the discriminatory policy from its handbook.
