DRP Obtains Reasonable Accommodation to Allow Tenant with Disabilities to Continue to Park Near her Apartment

DRP obtained a reasonable accommodation from an Allegheny County apartment complex to restore a revoked accessible parking space to a tenant with disabilities.  Due to her disabilities, the tenant required access to her automobile at a location which would minimize physical exertion.  During renovations, her accessible parking space was moved to a location that was farther away, which made it difficult for the tenant to access her automobile.  The tenant contacted DRP after unsuccessful attempts to get her parking space restored.  After DRP sent the apartment complex’s management a letter explaining the tenant’s right to a reasonable accommodation, the apartment complex restored the tenant’s previous accessible parking space.
